Mycenae was the ancient city of Argolis, located 130 km from Athens in the prefecture of Argolis. Mycenae and the Mycenaean civilization in general is widely known for its strict and robust architecture with  vast amounts of stone and construction of vaulted tombs .

The most important monuments that can be seen by a visitor , are the two royal funerary enclosures A and B, the Treasure of Atreus , the vaulted tomb of Clytemnestra , the Lion Gate , the royal palace , the north gate , the underground tank etc.

Epidaurus theatre

The Ancient Epidaurus mainly characterized by the 15000 seats ancient theater located in Argolida and constructed in 340-330 BC, is considered to be one of  UNESCO World Heritage sites.

The ancient theater of Epidaurus is considered the finest theater in ancient Greece in terms of acoustics and aesthetics. Constructed by Arjan architect Poliklito for the patients of the Asclepius as in ancient times it was believed that the theater had beneficial effects on mental and physical health .
In 1938 the first modern theatrical play was put up in this location,Electra of Sophocles . Its operation was discontinued a few years later because of the Second World War and it reopened in 1950 for the Festival of Epidaurus where various theatrical performances take place every summer either
